Second fire in two weeks at Old Shoe Market destroys shop
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Ten days after fire destroyed three shops in the Old Shoe Market Arcade in Montego Bay, St James another shop owner is counting losses due to a blaze in the space on Saturday morning.
It is reported that one shop was destroyed as firefighters from the nearby fire station on Barnett Street managed to extinguish the blaze before it could spread to other nearby establishments.
According to reports, the firefighters responded with two units which they used to quell the blaze.
A variety of merchandise was destroyed in the fire, including men and women’s clothing and a variety of accessories.
It comes on the heels of a fire last week Wednesday where just a few metres away, three similar establishments were destroyed.

The fire brigade is investigating the cause of this latest blaze.
