USF gifts computers, printer to Spalding Primary
The Clarendon-based Spalding Primary School is now enjoying the use of 20 new desktop computers and a state-of-the-art printer donated by the Universal Service Fund (USF).
This contribution, presented to the school recently, has improved its computer lab with advanced information and communication technology.
“We are thrilled to partner with Spalding Primary School to provide these crucial resources. Access to technology is vital in today’s educational environment, and we are proud to contribute to creating a more equitable learning experience for students here,” said Andrew McRae, acting CEO of the USF.
He noted that the USF, an agency under the Ministry of Science, Energy, Telecommunications and Transport, undertakes special initiatives aimed at improving the information and communication technology infrastructure of educational institutions and government ministries, departments and agencies.
In the meantime, former Member of Parliament for Clarendon North Western Richard Azan, who played a crucial role in prompting the USF to make the donation to the school, urged the students to utilise the devices to advance their educational prospects.
Azan, as a past student of the school, also urged everyone at the institution to take care of the devices.
During the handover ceremony, acting principal of the school Joan Ashley said the students and staff are immensely grateful to the USF for its generous support.
“This donation will make a significant difference in our students’ educational experience and help prepare them for future academic and professional success,” said Ashley
She pointed out that the donation is expected to greatly enhance the school’s capacity for digital learning while allowing students to engage more effectively with educational software and online resources.
