D’Yani leads Pepsi Bubbla revamp campaign
Dancehall heart-throb D’Yani has landed his first official corporate endorsement after taking the lead on Pepsi Cola’s newest campaign revamping Pepsi Bubbla.
For the first time in over a decade, Pepsi Bubbla will make its return to the local market. In the official campaign launched earlier this month, the Goddess singer plays the lead role with a number of notable young faces making appearances alongside him, including Miss Jamaica Festival Queen third-place winner Diandra Harrison and dancer/choreographer Desha Davis.
The artiste also voiced the jingle for the product roll-out.
In an interview with the Jamaica Observer, D’Yani said he was excited to partner with Pepsi as it shows he has grown to the point at which multinationals are now paying attention.
“I think my brand in itself is tailored for corporate, so I believed when I started my musical journey that it would only be a matter of time. It was just to find good matches for me that would align with my artistry and then to organise contracts that best suit both parties,” he said.
“Pepsi came along at the right time and I was grateful for the opportunity. I cannot complain. To be a part of the Pepsi movement and to align myself with corporate Jamaica shows that I’m headed in the right direction,” the artiste continued.
Speaking of direction, the entertainer gave special props to his handlers at Downsound Entertainment for elevating him to new levels in his career. Admitting that ‘trodding’ the artiste road is challenging enough, D’Yani said going the route is especially difficult without a supportive team.
“Starting in the industry was definitely difficult. Prior to Downsound I didn’t have the financial ‘backative’, I didn’t have the family or support system to nurture the brand. But, after connecting with Downsound, we fostered a unit that supports my dream and we have been growing from strength to strength,” he said.
“This latest transition to corporate is proof of that and this is just the beginning for D’Yani.”
Having secured the ‘Pepsi bag’, the Lock N Key singer says he’s hungry for more and believes every artiste should aim to align themselves with corporate, as long as it suits their artistic vision.
“Some artistes have different ideologies and mindsets in regards to their careers, but if it aligns with your goals I think, as entertainers, we should aim for bigger and better as long as its within your moral scope,” he said. “If it will help you grow in the ways you envisioned when you started your journey, go after those endorsements. There’s nothing wrong with partnership; it’s something I really encourage.”
Aside from the Pepsi collaboration, D’Yani is promoting the single Life’s Amazing.
Magnolia Vanegas, field marketing manager at Pepsi Cola Jamaica, welcomed the partnership, noting that D’Yani was the ideal ambassador for the returning product.
“With Pepsi Bubbla making its return after a decade, our goal was to bridge the gap between those who loved it when it first launched and today’s new generation. We considered several artistes, but D’Yani stood out as the perfect choice. He’s incredibly talented and humble and truly embodies what Bubbla represents — freshness, excitement, and a vibrant energy that connects with fans, old and new alike,” she said.
