Macka Diamond sets sights on Grammy
Dancehall and reggae recording artiste Macka Diamond is focusing on recording new material for projects that could garner her not only another Grammy nomination, but a Grammy win — sooner than later.
The artiste, who recently collected her official Grammy certificate for her contributions to Sly & Robbie’s Grammy-nominated album Amazing, has refocused this motivation to create more internationally acclaimed recordings to add to her expansive catalogue which spans over two decades.
“I’m always recording new music, so this isn’t new, but collecting my Grammy certificate really helped motivate me to refocus on getting more accolades with my recorded material. It’s a great feeling and I want more of those,” Macka Diamond admitted.
With a diverse international catalogue, Macka Diamond isn’t new to topping charts worldwide and performing her material in different languages on events across the globe. She is also no stranger to getting awards, with accolades from the Queens Of Reggae Island Honourary Ceremonies (QORIHC) and International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) under her belt.
The artiste, real name Charmaine Munroe, is sure she will get another Grammy nod before she retires her recording artiste cap.
“Making hit singles with longevity is always in my wheelhouse, songs like Bun Him and Dye Dye are still worldwide hits. A lot of times it’s how the material is submitted and on which project which makes the difference between a hit song and an award-winning one,” Macka Diamond added.
She is now busy in studio recording new material, among them Kitty, produced by Jason Emanuel from Netherlands; African King by Paypaz Chasaz Music; Back Back Me Love, produced by Kai Kai records; While Dem A Watch, produced by Kemar McGreggor; Jockey by DJ Kendo from Costa Rica; and Workout, by producer Supa Hype.
