Marcia J Ball sings ‘We Need More Love’ in new single
Although many of her songs are romantic ballads, Marcia J Ball is not averse to recording music with strong social themes. We Need More Love, her latest track, calls for tolerance despite cultural, racial and religious differences.
The single is written by Dwight Oliver, who also co-produced it with Ed Robinson. We Need More Love was released on August 30 by Da Global Base Records.
“Music has always been a powerful tool for communication and change, and I feel a strong responsibility to use my platform to share positive messages. I love creating songs that not only entertain but also inspire and provoke thought. It’s important to me that my music can make a difference in some way,” said Ball.
Oliver also composed This Man of Mine, Ball’s previous song, which dealt with affairs of the heart. The theme for We Need More Love is more universal.
“The inspiration for We Need More Love came from observing the world around us and realising how much more kindness and understanding we need in our daily lives. I wanted to create a song that would encourage people to come together, regardless of their differences, and spread love and positivity. It’s a message that I think resonates now more than ever,” Ball explained.
Born in London to Jamaican parents, Ball has lived in the United States since the 1970s. She started out in music as a member of Rumbling Express, a band that included three of her brothers, an aunt and uncle.
Currently based in South Florida, Ball has recorded five albums and a number of singles for different producers.
