‘Kiddy’ charged with murder of taxi operator
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 22-year-old man is facing murder charges in connection with the January 2023 shooting death of a 35-year-old taxi operator.
Detectives assigned to the Kingston East Police Division have charged Kemany Jones, otherwise known as ‘Kiddy’, a construction worker of Bobo Hill, Nine Miles, Bull Bay, St Andrew, in relation to the murder of 33-year-old Leon Lindsay of Taylor Land, Nine Miles, Bull Bay, St Andrew.
In addition to the murder charge, Jones was slapped with charges of using a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and conspiracy to commit murder.
Reports are that at about 11:30 pm, the now deceased was inside his motor car at the above-mentioned location when Jones and another man armed with firearms approached him and opened gunfire before fleeing the scene. The police were summoned and on their arrival, Lindsay was seen lying on the ground in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported to hospital where his death was confirmed.
The matter was reported to the police and, following an investigation, a targeted operation was conducted at a premises in Bobo Hill in the parish where Jones was arrested. He was charged on September 6 after a question and answer session in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised.
