Adventure with Flowers
Independent financial consultant and horticulturalist Megan Deane shares a recent visit to a flower show in Austria.
If it is one thing that can be said about Europe, it is that Europeans know how to put on a show. Whether it is the showcasing of their numerous historical sights, national celebrations or natural environments, the presentations are jaw-dropping.
So, when I heard about the Internationale Gartenbaumesse, at the Messe Tulln in the town of Tulln, Austria, and its flower show billed as Europe’s biggest flower show, I figured it would be spectacular. It did not disappoint!
An hour-plus later from Vienna we encountered the sign Abenteuer mit blumen, which translates to “adventure with flowers”. It was no idle boast! Picture three large exposition halls that had been transformed by floral artists into what one might imagine the Garden of Eden would be like: Stunningly beautiful!
They say a picture is worth a 1,000 words, so here are a few of the floral displays that left spectators in awe.
