Jamaica’s Draughts takes on the world in Russia
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A three-member delegation from the Jamaica Draughts Association (JDA) is competing against the world’s best in Moscow, Russia at this year’s World Championship Draughts-64 competition which will run from September 5th to 15th.
Led by JDA President Sudian Suckram, the team comprises Grandmaster International (GMI) Wayne Reid and 2024 National Champion Jermaine Hutchinson.
This prestigious tournament brings together top players from Asia, Europe, Africa, and beyond, making it a thrilling opportunity for Jamaica’s representatives to showcase their skills on the global stage.
The JDA team’s participation has been made possible through sponsorship from international agencies, demonstrating the growing recognition and support for draughts in Jamaica.
As the competition heats up in Moscow, fans back home will be cheering on Reid and Hutchinson as they face off against the world’s top players.
Reid, considered one of the best draughts players in the world, is expected to figure prominently in the competition.
