Williams deeply saddened by passing of 10-y-o killed in Manchester crash
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Education Minister Fayval Williams extended condolences to the family and friends of 10-year-old Treavon Sanchez, who was killed in a motor vehicle crash on Monday while on his way to school.
Williams expressed deep sadness at the boy’s passing while speaking at Wednesday’s Post Cabinet Press Briefing at the Office of the Prime Minister.
Sanchez was travelling in a car driven by his mother, a police constable, who remains in hospital in critical condition.

Williams said that the timing of the crash is something she considers “the worst news possible” as Sanchez died on the day the 2024/2025 academic school year began.
He was set to begin grade six.
“I consider this to be the worst news possible on the first day of school. My heart hurts for Treavon’s family and his friends,” she said.
She went on to reiterate that motorists should exercise caution on the road, and to be aware of other road users, especially children.
According to Head of the Manchester police, Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Carey Duncan, the collision occurred on the Sedburgh main road in Christiana, Manchester.
It is reported that a Honda Fit motor car, which was being driven by the female officer, was travelling towards Spalding when a Range Rover travelling in the opposite direction overtook a line of traffic and collided in the front section of the Honda Fit.
“I will go a step further to say that we are our brother’s keeper so drive not only for yourself but others and remember our children at all times,” she said.
The driver of the Range Rover has since turned himself in to the police.
