Yanique Thompson wins 100m hurdles at ISTAF Berlin
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Yanique Thompson won the 100m hurdles at Sunday’s ISTAF Berlin 2024 at Olympiastadion in Germany, a World Athletics Continental Tour – Silver event—running 12.73 seconds (1.2m/s) in a 1-2 finish for Jamaicans.
It was Thompson’s third fastest time of the season and her second race of the week after she was second at International Wiesław Maniak Memorial in Szczecin, Poland on Wednesday.
World Athletics Championships silver medallist Britany Anderson was second in 12.89 seconds.
Zandrion Barnes was second in the men’s 400m, running 45.47 seconds, beaten by Germany’s Jean Paul Bredau (45.04 seconds) with Great Britain’s Alex Haydock-Wilson taking third with 45.60 seconds.
Former World Athletics Championships and Olympic Games gold medallist Omar McLeod was third in the 110m hurdles in 13.28 (0.1m/s) behind Olympic champion Grant Holloway of the USA who ran 13.14 seconds with Japan’s Rachid Muratake was second with 13.21 seconds.
Danniel Thomas-Dodd, who won at a meet in Poland on Saturday, was third in the women’s shot put with 18.35m, as Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands won with 19.70m while Germany’s Olympic champion Yemisi Ogunyele was second with 18.65 seconds.
Also at the meet in Poland on Saturday, Mityng Ambasadorow Biatostockiego Sportu at Stadion Bosir in Biatystock, Shashalee Forbes won the women’s 100m with 11.21 seconds (-0.6m/s), beating Egypt’s Bassant Hemida (11.50 seconds) and Estonia’s Oilme Voro-11.61 seconds.
Thomas-Dodd threw 18.33m, beating the Polish pair of Klaudia Kardasz (16.58m) and Martyna Karwowsk with 81m.
