Bailey suffers injury ahead of Reggae Boyz Nations League games
Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey could be an injury doubt for Jamaica’s upcoming Nations League games after suffering a hamstring injury during Villa’s 2-1 win over Leicester City in the English Premier League on Saturday.
Bailey was substituted early in the first half after apparently picking up the injury while lunging in an attempt to block a pass.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa coach Unai Emery confirmed Bailey’s injury during an interview after the game.
“It is hamstring. I don’t know exactly how bad his injury is. He came off the pitch with an injury,” Emery is quoted as saying.
Bailey was last week recalled to the Reggae Boyz squad by new head coach Steve McClaren for their upcoming Concacaf Nations League fixtures against Cuba and Honduras. The Reggae Boyz will face Cuba on Friday before travelling to play Honduras four days later.

The 27-year-old winger has not played for the Reggae Boyz since November 2023 due to a suspension from former coach Heimir Hallgrimsson and a self-imposed break, during which he declined a call-up for Copa America in June.
He was one of Villa’s standout players last season, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists in the Premier League.
