Daley anchors Jamaica’s men’s 4x100m team to Under-20 gold in Lima
LIMA, Peru – A blistering anchor leg from Deandre Daley on Saturday gave Jamaica their first-ever World Under-20 Championships gold medal in the men’s 4x100m relays.
The quartet of Jace Witter, Gary Card, Nyrone Wade and Daley clocked 39.18 seconds at the Estadio Atletico de la Videna in Lima, Peru for the victory which brought the crowd to its feet as they came from fourth place to edge Great Britain on the line.
This was Jamaica’s first gold in the event in 18 years and ended a run of three straight silver medals, all behind the USA.
Great Britain clocked 39.20 seconds and Thailand ran a national Under-20 record 39.39 seconds for the bronze.
