World U-20 Champs: Jamaica’s men’s 4x400m fail to advance to final
LIMA, Peru – Despite a gallant anchor leg run by Kemarrio Bygrave, Jamaica’s men’s 4x400m failed to qualify for Saturday’s final at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships in Lima, Peru, after finishing third in their preliminary heat Friday in three minutes 11.30 seconds.
The team finished 10th overall in the round.
Jamaica were well back in fifth place after the first two legs by Shadane Smith and Omary Robinson, but Javaughn Pinnock closed the gap before handing off to 800m specialist Bygrave.
A fumbled exchange by the Italian team helped Jamaica to move into fourth and then Bygrave, who split 46.52 seconds, passed the Spain anchor leg runner to finish behind Australia (3:08.99) and Poland (3:10.11).
