World Under-20 Champs: Discus thrower Chad Hendricks suffers knee injury
LIMA, Peru – Jamaica’s national junior discus thrower Chad Hendricks has suffered a knee injury which resulted in him failing to appear for the event at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships in Lima, Peru.
Well-placed sources told Observer Online that Hendricks suffered a medial collateral ligament (MCL) tear which will rule him out of competition for a few months.
Hendricks, who has a personal best of 59.00m with the 1.75Kg discus, was scheduled to compete in Group A of the preliminaries on Friday.
He was due to travel to the United States straight from Lima to start college at Louisiana State University (LSU).
Meanwhile, world leader Shaiquan Dunn, who was a finalist in the men’s shot put on Tuesday, will compete in Group B Friday as he seeks to get into the final set for Saturday.
