Shaiquan Dunn into discus final at World U-20 Championships
LIMA, Peru – World leader Shaiquan Dunn has qualified for the final of the men’s discus throw at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships at Estadio Atletico de la Videna in Lima, Peru.
Dunn advanced after throwing 57.82m in Friday’s preliminary round.
It will be his second final at the championships after finishing ninth in the men’s shot put on Tuesday.
In Friday’s discus preliminary round, Dunn was 11th overall as only five athletes got over the 60.00m automatic qualifying mark.
He was sixth in his group, getting his best throw in the first round before a subpar 37.68m in the second round and a foul in the third.
South Africa’s Juan Marais led the qualifying with 61.54m, followed by Mykhailo Brudin of the Ukraine, 61.39m; and American Bryce Rutland with a personal best 61.11m.
