‘God’s Timing’ for Dymond as gospel singer releases first album
God’s Timing, the first album from gospel singer Dymond, was released on August 27. It contains 10 songs, all written by the New York-based artiste who launched her recording career in April.
The album is produced by George “Brotha George” Wright, a stalwart gospel act based in Connecticut. Veteran keyboardist Sidney Mills and rising musician/producer Andre “Dretegs” Hawthorne also collaborated on God’s Timing.
Dymond told Observer Online that God’s Timing is a collection of “worship songs”, done to a blend of genres, from dancehall to Revival.
“It’s exceptional, a big accomplishment. I just started recording in April and now I have an album out, it’s just the work of God,” she said.
Dymond and Wright are currently promoting two songs — Almighty God I’m Calling and Plank, for which videos have been filmed. Si mi Yah, her first song, is also on God’s Timing.
Born Stephanie Brown, Dymond was raised by God-fearing parents in east Kingston. She is inspired by American gospel acts such as CeCe Winans, as well as Jamaican artistes who turned their backs on secular life during the 1990s, and became leaders of a local gospel boom.
On September 28, Dymond is scheduled to perform in The Bronx to promote God’s Timing.
