Kerrica Hill advances to 100m hurdles final
LIMA, Peru— World leader and defending champion Kerrica Hill has hinted that she has her eyes on something special in Friday’s final of the 100m hurdles at the World Athletics Under- 20 Championships in Lima, Peru, after easing through the semis on Thursday afternoon.
Hill lowered her time to 13.00 seconds (0.1m/s) in winning her semi-final race. She said her second race was “better” than the morning’s run despite the temperatures dropping.
“Well, this, this one was better, like, it’s pretty cold, but the weather from this morning and now is pretty different. This one was better, the time was a little bit faster as well,” she said.
The world leader-12.85 seconds and championship record holder -12.77 seconds told reporters, “It’s really what I expected but as I said, it’s cold out there, so I don’t really expect anything spectacular right now; I am just taking it step by step to the final.”
Habiba Harris, however, failed to make the cut after placing fourth in her semi-final heat in 13.64 seconds (0.0m/s), and was 11th overall.
