Hines aims to improve in men’s 200m at U-20 World Championships
LIMA, Peru — Romario Hines is well aware of the work that is before him if he is to make it to the final of the men’s 200m at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships at Estadio Atletico de la Videna in Lima, Peru.
Hines qualified on time for Thursday afternoon’s semi-finals after he was fourth in his first round heat in 21.35 seconds (-0.6m/s) while Junior Gallimore, who said his preparation was interrupted by a left thigh injury, was sixth in his race in 22.46 seconds ((-0.4m/s) and failed to make progress.
“It’s a bit rough, the weather is cool and I don’t think that was the best of me,” he said after the race, “But I tried my best and I know I’m way better than that.”
In the semis he said he had to work on “fixing how I attacked the curve and maintaining through the line, but I will do better”.
