Jade Ann Dawkins advances to triple jump final by slimmest of margins
LIMA, Peru— Jade Ann Dawkins qualified for Saturday’s final in the women’s triple jump after Wednesday’s preliminaries at the World Under 20 Championships in Lima, Peru.
Dawkins secured her spot in the final with a jump of 12.82m (1.2m/s), just edging out Latvia’s Brenda Dziliana Apsite, who recorded the same distance. The Jamaican athlete advanced due to a better second jump of 12.64m compared to Apsite’s 12.63m.
Jaeda Robinson did not advance, finishing in 21st position overall with a jump of 12.53m (1.6m/s).
