Dunn qualifies for shot put final at World Under-20
LIMA, Peru— Shaiquan Dunn advanced to Tuesday evening’s final of the men’s shot put after throwing 19.53m in the qualifying round at the World Athletics Under 20 Championships at Estadio Atletico de la Videna in Lima, Peru.
Dunn was fifth best in his group and sixth overall as only four athletes got over the automatic qualifying mark of 19.70m.
This was led by Germany’s Georg Harpf, who threw 20.32m, while Alexandr Mazur achieved a Moldovan national Under-20 record of 20.11m. South Africa’s JL Van Rensburg threw a personal best of 20.00m and Yannick Rolvink of the Netherlands threw 19.97m.
Dunn, who will also compete in the discus throw later in the week, threw 18.67m to start, improved to 19.35m and then finished with 19.53m.
