Cops find submachine gun in trunk of scrapped car
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A submachine gun was found in the trunk of a scrapped vehicle on Tewari Crescent in Rose Town, Kingston 13, on Tuesday afternoon.
The high-powered weapon was seized following a snap raid by the Kingston Western police’s Proactive Investigation Unit. No arrests were made in connection with the find.
The police said the raid was a part of the national initiative assault on gangs and the result of continued investigations into the Rose Town/Bentley Lane gangs in the division.
Reports reaching Observer Online indicated that between 2 and 3 pm, the police carried out the snap operations.
During the raid, the police found a Smith and Wesson submachine gun in the trunk of a scrapped motor car. A magazine was affixed to the weapon and contained one .22mm cartridge.
The firearm was seized and taken into police custody.
