Whitmore to meet with Mt Pleasant FA regarding coaching vacancy
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Theodore Whitmore has agreed to meet with his former employers, Mt Pleasant FA, as the search for a new head coach of the Jamaica Premier League team begins following the firing of Harold Thomas after just one game.
News broke Friday morning that Thomas, who replaced Whitmore at the Drax Hall, St Ann-based club after his contract was not renewed by the management, lasted just one game—a 2-0 loss to Cavalier SC in their all-Jamaica Concacaf Caribbean Cup match on Tuesday at Sabina Park.
When contacted by Observer Online, Whitmore, who has been linked with a quick return to the sidelines in the JPL, had a terse response: “To attend a meeting, that’s it.”
Whitmore was recently named head coach of many-time daCosta Cup champions Cornwall College in late June and was on the sidelines with his goalkeeper coach, Warren Barrett, at a pre-season tournament held at the Montego Bay Sports Complex on Saturday.
He had previously coached St James High in the daCosta Cup competition.
