Tappa back at Mt Pleasant
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Theodore ‘Tappa’ Whitmore is back as the head coach at Jamaica Premier League club, Mt Pleasant FA, following a meeting with the club’s management on Friday.
He replaces Harold Thomas, the man who ousted him from the role back in June.
A release from the club over the signature of Sporting Director Paul Christie on Friday afternoon, said, “Effective immediately, Mount Pleasant Football Academy has entrusted Theodore “Tappa” Whitmore to build a technical team that will ensure Mount Pleasant continues to compete at the highest level.”
Earlier in the day news broke that Thomas, who was previously a part of the Mt Pleasant Academy, was fired along with his entire staff after the St Ann team were beaten 2-0 on Tuesday by Cavalier SC in their all-Jamaica Concacaf Caribbean Cup game played at Sabina Park.
Thomas had replaced Whitmore whose contract was not renewed after they lost on penalties to Cavalier SC in the final of the Jamaica Premier League.
The release said also that club president “Peter Gould takes this opportunity to apologise to the loyal Mount Pleasant fans for the decisions that were taken during the summer that adversely affected the performance of the team.
“We are committed to returning the club to its high standard of professionalism and look forward to the days ahead.”
