Ky-Mani Marley working on album
...releases New Creature
Reggae artiste Ky-Mani Marley is getting ready to hit the road in support of his forthcoming seventh studio album Love and Energy.
It is preceded by the song New Creature, which was released on August 16.
“The song New Creature is about self-awareness and the process of personal evolution towards one’s higher self, done consciously,” Marley told the Jamaica Observer recently.
An emotionally charged track, New Creature delves into themes of self-discovery and growth, urging listeners to embrace change and conquer life’s obstacles.
Unbounded by genres, Marley creates music that fuses world, hip hop, blues, rock, and grass roots elements. With an authentic and gritty style, Marley’s music resonates with listeners, echoing the essence of his life journey and inspires many.
“My aim with this song is to encourage listeners to embark on their own transformative journeys, to believe in themselves, and to find strength in the face of adversity,” Marley added.
Love and Energy is Marley’s first full body of work since 2015’s Maestro.
“The majority of the production was done in-house by my team and myself. It was important for me to be hands-on every step of the way, especially with the production, to ensure that my listeners get the full experience and a deeper insight into who I am as an artist. I’ve collaborated with Andrew Tosh and Gramps Morgan so far, and I’m currently working on a few more collaborations. New album, new experience, new creature, old soul,” he reasoned.
Marley’s forthcoming 20-date tour, aptly titled Love and Energy, kicks off in the fall and, according to the artiste, it promises to be a celebration of music and unity.
“We have a very busy tour schedule, first with my brothers on the Legacy tour, and then with my own tour to promote the upcoming album. It’s been a while since I toured the US, so I’m looking forward to sharing some new music and energy with the people,” said Marley.
The tour begins on November 11 in Buffalo, New York. It will make stops in Pittsburgh, Maine, Virginia, South Carolina, Nashville, Colorado, Illinois, and Los Angeles before wrapping on December 21 in Arcata, California.
Marley has one Grammy nomination under his belt for the 2001 album Many More Roads. His other albums include Like Father Like Son, The Journey, Milestone, and Radio.
Known for the hits One Love with Cherine Anderson and Rasta Love featuring Protoje, Marley has appeared in the films Shottas and One Love.
His biggest hit to date, Avenues, a collaboration with The Refugee All-Stars featuring Pras. The song was featured on the soundtrack to the film Money Talks. It peaked at #35 on the Billboard Hot 100, while making charts in Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Finland, New Zealand, Norway and Sweden.
