Broadbell wins 110m hurdles at Wanda Diamond League
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Rasheed Broadbell won the 110m hurdles during Thursday’s Athletissima, the 11th Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season at Stade Olympique de la Pontaise in Switzerland, running 13.10 seconds (-0.1m/s) beating Olympic champion Grant Holloway.
It was Broadbell’s second win in Lausanne and third on the Diamond League circuit. Holloway was second in 13.14 seconds and Jamaica’s Hansle Parchment placed third in 13.23 seconds.
Broadbell pointed out that while his time was slower than the 13.09 seconds he ran in the finals at the Paris Olympics, “the race felt better because I knew I had it after the last hurdle. I could have run faster if I pushed through the tape but I´m satisfied.”
There were runners-up spots for Rushell Clayton in the women’s 400m hurdles and Wayne Pinnock in the men’s long jump while Ackera Nugent was third in the 100m hurdles.
Clayton, who would have been disappointed not to get a medal in the Olympics, got off to a fast start but was overtaken late by Femke Bol who lowered her own meet record to 52.25 seconds.
Clayton ran 53.32 seconds for second place, followed by Janieve Russell in third with 54.48 seconds and Andrenette Knight fourth in 54.93 seconds.

Pinnock jumped 8.01m (-0.2m/s) for second, Tajay Gayle was fourth with 7.92m (-0.2m/s) after starting with two fouls, and Carey McLeod was seventh with 7.82m (-0.4m/s).
