Three schools to be gazetted by year end
TRELAWNY, Jamaica — A number of schools that were not gazetted will receive such status by the end of the year.
The assurance was given by Education Minister Fayval Williams during a question and answer session of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) 60th Annual Conference in Trelawny on Wednesday.
Williams revealed that while a number of schools were gazetted recently, three are yet to be done.
“Within the last six months, we have gazetted a long list of schools. Unfortunately, Nain [High School], Aberdeen [High School, both in St Elizabeth] and Lyssons [Centre of Excellence in St Thomas] were not in that long list.
“I know that the cabinet submission is with the Parliamentary Council which means it is very close to going to Cabinet,” stated Williams.
Williams was responding to queries by past president of the JTA La Sonja Harrison for an update.
