Rajindra Campbell and Shashalee Forbes compete in Sweden
OLYMPIC Games bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell will be one of four Jamaicans scheduled to compete at Wednesday’s Boras Folksam Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger event, to be held at Ryavallen in Sweden.
Campbell, the Jamaican record holder in both the indoor and outdoor Men’s Shot Put event, is coming off a win in Germany on the weekend and is expected to get competition from Great Britain’s Scott Lincoln and South Africa’s Kyle Blignaut, both of who also competed at the Olympic Games in Paris earlier this month.
In Germany, Campbell recorded a mark of 21.64m to take top honours and continue his good run of form. The Jamaican has only finished outside the top three at four of his 18 competitions this season.
Lincoln could have revenge on his mind after Campbell’s final-round effort in Germany saw him move from third to first place.
Olympic Games semi-finalist Shashalee Forbes, Serena Cole and Natasha Morrison are set to line up in the Women’s 100m.
This will be Forbes’ first competitive run since featuring at the Olympic Games where she replaced Shericka Jackson in the 100m, making it to the semi-finals, before also featuring in the 4x100m relay for the Jamaican team.
She will be looking to improve on her season’s best of 11.03 seconds which was recorded at the JAAA/Puma National Senior Championships.
The Jamaicans could face competition from Portuguese sprint double champion and Olympic Games 200m semi-finalist Lorene Dorcas Bazolo, and Sweden’s Julia Henriksson who was also a semi-finalist in the 200m in Paris.
