Retired SSP McGregor named Director of Security at UWI Mona
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Veteran law enforcement officer and former Senior Superintendent, Steve McGregor, has been appointed as the new Director of Security at the University of the West Indies, Mona. He will be succeeding Norman Heywood in the role.
McGregor retired from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) in January, after serving the force for over 40 years.
He also recently completed a Master of Science in Security Studies at the Caribbean Maritime University.
McGregor played a key role in transforming the Rockfort community, which had experienced a surge in crime before his arrival. According to the JCF, he launched the first Safe Community Program in Belair, St Ann, served as general secretary of the Jamaica Police Federation in 1996, and received his first LASCO Award in 2000, followed by a national award in 2015.
