Post-Beryl restoration boost for Flow
Technicians from Costa Rica and Panama to accelerate recovery efforts
TELECOMMUNICATIONS provider Flow has taken further steps to help expedite its post-Beryl restoration efforts by leveraging support and resources from its regional footprint.
The company has enlisted a team of 30 skilled technicians from its sister companies Liberty Costa Rica and Más Móvil in Panama who will work to further bolster the tireless efforts of its dedicated local team.
Eight of the technicians have already arrived in the island from Costa Rica, with the remaining 22 from Panama set to arrive by August 24.
Stephen Price, vice-president and general manager of Flow, emphasised the strength of this collaborative approach.
“Our technicians have been working around the clock since the hurricane hit, demonstrating incredible dedication and expertise. The addition of our skilled colleagues from our regional markets allows us to amplify our efforts and significantly accelerate our restoration,” said Price.
“Our effort at this time is two-fold, the first being to restore services to those affected while working to boost the resilience of our network and to bolster our capacity to better serve customers as we go forward,” Price added.
He further noted that the technicians bring specialised knowledge in fibre optic technology, network infrastructure repair, and rapid disaster recovery techniques.
The passage of Hurricane Beryl, which impacted the island on July 3 affected Internet, cable, and voice services for more than 2,000 communities, primarily due to power outages.
According to Price, to date, service has been restored to 1,828 communities, with the remaining areas being upgraded to Flow’s state-of-the-art fibre network, promising enhanced reliability and performance post-recovery.
He said Flow’s mobile services have shown remarkable resilience, with population coverage now at 96 per cent.
