OUR urges JPS customers to verify electricity restoration
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) is urging Jamaica Public Service (JPS) customers in parishes reported as being fully restored to confirm their power supply status.
The OUR, which has been monitoring the restoration of electricity across the island, says this move comes against the background of continuing customer complaints despite JPS’s latest restoration report stating that only customers in St Elizabeth and small pockets of communities in Westmoreland, Manchester and Kingston and St Andrew were still without electricity.
Customers are being asked to email consumerestoration@our.org.jm or call the local OUR toll-free number 888-CALL-OUR (888-225-5687) if their electricity service has not been restored.
The regulatory body said it will continue to make sporadic visits to areas still without electricity supply.
It added that in the company’s latest Hurricane Beryl restoration schedule, JPS said that it had now achieved 98.47 per cent restoration to its customers and that there will be 100 per cent restoration across the island by August 31, 2024.
