Falmouth mayor urges motorists to exercise caution on the roadway
TRELAWNY, Jamaica — Following Wednesday’s fatal accident involving a 17-year-old motorcyclist on the recently paved roadway between Martha Brae and Bounty Hall in Trelawny, Falmouth’s Mayor C Junior Gager is urging motorists to drive within the speed limit.
The deceased has been identified as Dwight Smart of a Bounty Hall address in the parish.
“I am imploring all motorists using the newly renovated leg of the roadway, and all the thoroughfares, to drive within the speed limit. Observation of the road code could save lives,” Gager appealed.
“Also motorcyclist, I am urging you, please wear a helmet,” he added.
Reports are that about 9:30 am Smart was driving a motorcycle on the Hammersmith main road when it collided with a Black Nissan Sunny motorcar that was travelling in the opposite direction.
He sustained injures and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Trelawny police are investigating.
