Paulwell to visit St Elizabeth to assist residents impacted by Beryl
ST JAMES, Jamaica – Opposition Spokesperson on Energy and Climate Change, Phillip Paulwell said a team will be visiting St Elizabeth on Monday to help provide some relief to people impacted by the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
St Elizabeth, the second largest parish on the island, is considered one of the worst affected.
Paulwell, who was addressing a St James Central constituency meeting held at Cornwall College on Sunday, did not provide a time for the visit.
“I am going to South West St Elizabeth tomorrow. A group of us are going down there tomorrow (Monday) because I am very upset that after five weeks after Hurricane Beryl, we still have so many people — not only in St Elizabeth but Manchester as well and I hear places in St James as well— [without electricity],” stated Paulwell.
“We are going to go down there tomorrow and we are going to bring water and we are going to bring ice because people are still suffering,” he promised.
Some areas remain without piped water due to the lack of electricity which is used to operate pumping stations and treatment plants.
