Electricity theft finally dealt with
Dear Claudienne,
I am having a very big issue with my light. I brought my problem to the attention of the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPSCo) many years ago but still nothing has been done. I have explained to them that persons have attached cords onto my service wire running from my house to the JPS light pole. I have been receiving large electricity bills, monthly. However, I know for sure that I am not using so much electricity, as no one is at my home during the daytime.
I have written to the JPS many times and asked them to send someone to investigate the situation but, up until now, they have not done so. I have also lodged a complaint with the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR), to no avail. This situation is stressing me out real bad as they have been stealing my electricity for many years and I am tired and frustrated.
In light of this situation I am also requesting the JPS to remove my service line connection from the pole in question to another pole in the scheme.
Please help me.
EB
Dear EB,
Tell Claudienne has been in communication with a senior executive at the JPSCo and was told that site visits would be made to your premises to examine the electrical connections.
You have informed the column that two JPS employees have visited your premises and removed the wires. The JPS has told the column that additional time will be required to complete their investigation and determine your real electricity usage.
We wish you all the best.
