#ParisOlympics: Jamaica’s women qualify for 4x400m final
Jamaica’s women qualified for the final of the 4x400m relay at the Olympic Games in Paris, winning their semi-final race in three minutes 24.92 seconds at Stade de France on Friday.
An impressive run from Charokee Young on the third leg, taking the team from third and handing over first, allowed veteran Stephenie McPherson on anchor to get to the finish line ahead of the Netherlands.
Andrenette Knight split 51.70 seconds on the first leg to hand over second behind the fast starting Irish team before Ashley Williams split 51.50 seconds on the second leg but was passed by two other teams.
The Netherlands ran 3:25.03 for second place and Ireland were timed in 3:35.05 for third, getting the automatic qualifying spots.
Canada who were fourth in 3:25.77 also grabbed one of the qualifying spots in the final, on time.
