#ParisOlympics: JA women place fifth in 4x100m
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s women were fifth in the 4x100m relay final on Friday’s penultimate day of competition at Stade de France at the Olympic Games in Paris, running 42.29 seconds.
The Jamaicans, who were the defending champions after winning in Tokyo, fielded the same team that qualified from the semi-finals- Alana Reid, Kemba Nelson, Shashalee Forbes and Tia Clayton.
It was the first time since 2008 that the Jamaican women had failed to win a medal after they had won back-to-back silver medals in 2012 in London and 2016 in Brazil.
The USA won the gold medal in 41.78 seconds, ahead of Great Britain – 41.85 seconds and Germany- 41.97 seconds.
