#ParisOlympics: No medals for Jamaica in Women’s 400mh
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s two representatives were shut out of the medals as American Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone smashed the world record in the women’s 400m hurdles at the Olympic Games at Stade de France in Paris on Thursday.
Rushell Clayton, who was impressive in her previous two rounds and was expected to get a medal, finished fifth in 52.68 seconds, just ahead of Shiann Salmon who was sixth with 53.29 seconds.
McLaughlin-Levrone, who is unbeaten since 2019 and who had set the previous world record 50.65 seconds in June at the USA Trials, destroyed a quality field with 50.37 seconds.
Her teammate Anna Cockrell was second with a lifetime best 51.87 seconds and World and European champion Femke Bol was third in 52.15seconds.
