#ParisOlympics: Jamaican trio makes 110m hurdles finals
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Orlando Bennett ran a personal best of 13.09 seconds (0.6m/s) to lead the Jamaican trio, including Rasheed Broadbell and defending Olympic champion Hansle Parchment, into the final of the 110m hurdles at the Olympic Games at Stade de France on Wednesday.
Broadbell—who clocked 13.21 seconds (-0.1m/s)—and Bennett, won their heats and qualified automatically, while Parchment, who finished third in the first semi-final with a season-best 13.19 seconds (0.1m/s), advanced on time.
Parchment narrowly secured his place in the final, finishing behind three-time World Champion Grant Holloway, who ran 12.98 seconds (0.1m/s). Spain’s Enrique Llopis was second with 13.17 seconds. Japan’s Rachid Muratake, who finished fourth with 13.26 seconds, also earned a spot in the final.
Bennett, the silver medallist at the World Under-20 Championships in Finland in 2018, improved his previous best of 13.18 seconds, defeating American Daniel Roberts (13.10 seconds) and Japan’s Shunsuke Izuiya (13.32 seconds).
Broadbell, returning to top form, made up ground off the final hurdle to win with 13.21 seconds, out-leaning American Freddie Crittenden (13.23 seconds) to secure his place, while Louis Francois Mendy of Senegal was third with 13.34 seconds.
