61-y-o dies at notorious Alligator Pond drowning spot
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Police are probing a suspected case of drowning involving a 61-year-old man in Alligator Pond, south Manchester on Tuesday.
Police named him as Robert Foster, a resident of Broomfield Street in Mandeville.
A police report said about 1:25 pm, Foster, while at Sea Riv, went swimming and got into difficulties and drowned. Residents alerted the police and upon their arrival, the scene was processed.
Police said the body was removed from the water and taken to the hospital where death was confirmed.
The area, known as River, has been the scene of numerous drowning incidents over the years, especially on holidays.
On Easter Monday, Nathaniel Thompson, 17, a student of Alphansus Davis High in Spalding drowned at the location.

Last August, two people drowned at the location. A local community hero, who saved people from drowning at the same location, also drowned upstream the river in Alligator Pond a week after rescuing several people.
