5-y-o drowns after allegedly slipping, falling into river
ST MARY, Jamaica — The police are now probing the circumstances surrounding the death of a five-year-old girl who allegedly slipped and fell into a river where she drowned.
The incident happened at a river in Castleton, St Mary on Tuesday, August 6.
The deceased has been identified as Nashera Hackett of Park Circle, Portmore in St Catherine.
Reports from the Castleton police are that about 3:45 pm, the child and other family members went to the river to swim. While walking close to the river bank, it is alleged that the child slipped and fell into the water, where she got into difficulties and drowned.
The police were alerted, the scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue.
