Paris Facecard: Lamara Distin
Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD) shares the make-up routine that keeps national high jump champion, and World Champs finalist Lamara Distin looking flawless during and after competition.
TSD takes beauty notes!
TSD: When did you start wearing make-up for competition, and what sparked that decision?
Lamara Distin (LD): I started wearing make-up for competitions around my sophomore year of college. At first, it was just a light foundation because I really didn’t know much about make-up. Honestly, I just liked how it made me feel put-together, even if I didn’t do much beyond that.
TSD: Describe your race-day make-up look.
LD: I handle make-up myself on competition days, which I find really rewarding. I usually do it at the hotel because it’s more comfortable and I have all my things organised there. I typically allow about 30 to 45 minutes for application before I need to head to the track. This gives me enough time to make any adjustments, if needed.
For my race-day look, I often reach for a few key products that I know work well for me. I like to keep it simple but effective, a good foundation, some contour, and a touch of blush. I finish off with a bit of lipgloss for that perfect shine!
THIS OR THAT?
Lip gloss or lipstick?
I definitely prefer lip gloss! It just adds that nice shine and feels comfortable on my lips.
Soft glam or full glam?
I go for soft glam; it suits my style and doesn’t feel too heavy.
Drugstore or high-end?
I’m all about both, depending on the product. Some drugstore items work just as well as high-end ones, so I like to mix it up!
