Vessel spreads God’s Word with ‘Love You Forever’
As a man of faith, gospel singer Vessel is determined to spread the message of God far and wide. He kept things simple for Love You Forever, his latest song, to reach the young ones.
The single was released in June, and like many of Vessel’s songs, is produced by fellow Jamaican Craig McDonald.
“It’s more conventional, it’s more normal, simple. There’s no real heavy flow in this one, just nice words and rhymes so that a person can identify how much love I have for the Lord and how much love He has for me. It’s one of those songs where I purposely tried to make sure even the little ones, little kids, can sing along and understand that whatever you face in life, the Lord is there with you,” he said.
His flow was a lot heavier on Truly Bless and Doing it Big, his previous songs which heard the South Florida-based Vessel testing the waters with techno beats. No matter what genre he records to, his objective is the same.
“Even though it’s a gospel song, it’s also a mutual song where a person can understand it, identify with it and use it in their personal life as well,” he said.
Vessel has lived in Florida since the 1990s, when gospel artistes such as Kirk Franklin blended spiritual lyrics with hip hop beats. The American’s success sparked a flow of similar performers including Vessel whose influences include rapper Tupac Shakur and dancehall heavyweights Beenie Man and Bounty Killer.
In addition to a number of singles, he has released two albums, Christwalker and His Steps.
