Shannon Sharpe trolls Jamaicans after Lyles wins gold
ESPN commentator Shannon Sharpe took to X, formerly Twitter, following United States Noah Lyles’ narrow gold medal win over Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson in the men’s 100m final of the Paris Olympics on Sunday.
Following the heated battle Sharpe wrote a message on X trolling Jamaicans saying “Noah smoked Kishane and made Seville tap out”.
“Where’s all that brash talking you Jamaicans were doing. When Thompson laid down that 9.77 even got the prime minister involved. Told you we had something 4 y’all. I get the women were hurt, but Noah smoked Kishane and made Seville tap out,” Sharpe wrote, ending the post with six American flag emojis.
Sharpe had celebrated Sha’Carri Richardson’s victory in June after she ran a world-leading time of 10.71 second to stamp her ticket for the Paris Olympics.
“We got something for you. Jamaica women, I am putting y’all on notice,” he had said during his appearance on First Take on ESPN alongside host Stephen A Smith.
He further boasted that the American men were making a statement after Lyles placed first in 9.83 seconds at the US-trials.
“Just get that thing in the hands of Noah Lyles…we got something for you,” Sharpe had said.
Lyles added Olympic champion to his World Champs title after beating Thompson by a thousandth of a second after both men ran a time of 9.79 seconds.
