Ifidel Williams, popular Digicel Rising Stars backup singer, has died
Singer Ifidel Williams, who gained popularity as a backup vocalist on the Digicel Rising Stars TV show, has passed away.
The news of his death Sunday triggered an outpouring of grief on social media.
“Rest in peace to a coworker who always brightened our days with a smile and a joke. Your laughter will be missed,” said TV producer Yanique Brown on X.
Social media personality Lij Tafari posted: “Death hurts. But when you know someone was genuinely a good person? It hits way harder. That man blessed my two songs with his vocals. As recently as April. And took me to my first ever photoshoot and first ever studio session in Jamaica. & just suh? Thanks fi everything Ifidel.”
Williams’ cause of death was not immediately available.
In addition to his supporting role at Digicel Rising Stars, Williams provided backing vocals for Tessanne Chin and the Billboard chart-topper Diana King. He also released his own singles and worked for The ASHE Company as its integrated marketing and communications lead.
