#ParisOlympics: Tia Clayton places seventh in 100m at Olympics
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Tia Clayton placed a creditable seventh in the women’s 100m final at the Olympic Games on a rain-drenched track at Stade de France on Saturday, running 11.04 seconds (-0.1m/s) in her first ever senior championships.
The 19-year-old, who ran a personal best 10.86 seconds in the semi-final at the JAAA National championships in late June, had run 10.89 seconds in the semi-final at the Paris Olympics.
St Lucia’s Julien Alfred, who competed at the ISSA Championships for St Catherine High, won the gold with a personal best and national record 10.72 seconds, her country’s first Olympic medal.
World Champion Sha’Carri Richardson was second in 10.87 seconds with her training partner Mellisa Jefferson third with 10.92 seconds.
