USF bridges ICT access gap at JCDC Independence celebrations
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Universal Service Fund (USF) is enhancing the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Independence events by providing internet access at all three of the celebratory locations and sponsoring a virtual reality experience for the Independence Village at the National Stadium Complex in Kingston.
Scheduled to take place from August 3 to 6, 2024, the Independence Village will be a hub of cultural and technological innovation.
Alongside the virtual reality booth, the USF will host an interactive booth offering insights into its projects and opportunities to win a tablet and other prizes.
Acting CEO of the USF, Andrew McRae stated, “The USF’s initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to expanding digital access and fostering inclusive participation in national events. By providing reliable internet access, the USF is ensuring that attendees can engage fully with the celebrations and stay connected. Our sponsorship of the virtual room and presence at the Independence Village underscores our dedication to promoting technological inclusion.”
The Independence Village promises to be a dynamic space where culture meets technology.
The USF undertakes special initiatives aimed at improving the information and communication technology infrastructure of non-profit organisations, educational institutions and government ministries, departments and agencies.
