#ParisOlympics: Rajindra Campbell qualifies for shot put final
KINGSTON, Jamaica — National record holder Rajindra Campbell is through to the final of the men’s shot put at the Olympic Games after he threw 21.05m in the preliminaries held on Friday at Stade de France.
Campbell, who was a finalist at last year’s World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, placed fifth in his group and 10th overall to book his spot in the top 12.
Only six men, led by Italy’s Leonardo Fabbri- 21.76m, got over the automatic qualifying mark of 21.35m and into Saturday’s final.
Campbell, who owns the national indoor and outdoor records, got his only legal mark in the first round, fouling his two other attempts.
