Comehometome hard to oppose in Jamaica Oaks Classic race
The 85th running of the Jamaica Oaks Classic race, a Grade One event, takes place at Caymanas Park on tomorrow’s 10-race card.
Thirteen talented native-bred three-year-old fillies will compete over 10 furlongs (2,000m) for the coveted $3.75-million purse. With Run Julie Run, the Jamaica 1000 Guineas winner, opting out to run in the Jamaica Derby, the door is open for a new Classic winner to emerge.
Leading the pack is Comehometome, trained by champion trainer Jason DaCosta.
Below is the analysis of the Jamaica Oaks Classic race.
1. ROSETTA: (3 rn f by Bold Coquest – Khadiliah) – Appears to be outclassed by her main competitors in this race. Despite her potential, Rosetta lacks the speed, agility, and overall talent to keep up with the top contenders. Unless she shows significant improvement, she is likely to be left behind in the pack.
2.BANADURA: (3 b f by Casual Trick – Esparanza) – Has shown flashes of brilliance, winning both the Hotline and Thornbird Stakes races earlier in the season. However, her fourth-place finish in the Jamaica 1000 Guineas (8 furlongs – 1600m) raises concerns about her ability to handle longer distances. If her jockey can regulate her pace effectively, Banadura may be able to surprise her rivals and make a late charge. Nevertheless, her chances are uncertain, and she faces a tough challenge.
3. BLU SENSATION: (3 b f by Sensational Slam – Blues in the Grass) – Enters this race in good form, having secured a convincing win over 7 furlongs (1,400m) in her last outing. With this distance suiting her perfectly, Blu Sensation is poised to make an impact.
4. BUTTERCUP: (3 b f by Conquest Cherimash – Shahar) – Finished third, 5 ¼ lengths behind Riches to Rags and Sippin On Sunshine, over 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m) on June 22. Buttercup will need to show significant improvement to be a contender in this race.
5.SIPPIN ON SUNSHINE: (3 b f by Sunshine N Shadow – Casual Drink) – Faces extremely long odds and is unlikely to win.
6. SHE’S THAT GIRL: (3 ch f by Sensational Slam – Palace Gold) – Had her two-race winning streak snapped on July 8, finishing second to Commander Z over 6 furlongs (1200m). She’s That Girl should still run a respectable race.
7. PRINCESS FIANIE: (3 b f by Soul Warrior –Ship Sham) – Finished fourth, 4 ¼ lengths behind Mack and Rome, in the Terremoto Trophy over 9 furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m) on July 20. Princess Fianie may earn some money in this race.
8. LADY LAUREN: (3 b f by Deputy Glitters – Anna) – Cannot be recommended for a winning run, lacking the necessary form and performance to suggest a victorious outcome.
9. AMMA: (3 b f by Bern Identity – Blufield) – Can be safely disregarded as a contender.
10. COMEHOEMTOME: (3 b f by Northern Giant – Heart of Gold) – On paper, the clear favourite to win. Consistent in her performances, Comehometome ran a courageous second, 4 lengths behindRun Julie Run, in the Jamaica 1000 Guineas on June 1. With Run Julie Run absent from this race,,Comehometome is poised to dominate her rivals and take the top spot.
11. RACK DEM: (3 g f by Midnight Hawk – Cherokee Way) – Only in this race to test the deepness of the waters.
12. O SO SMART:(3 ch f by Soul Warrior – Patchwork) – In here to make up numbers.
13. LUCY IN THE SKY: (3 b f by Liquidity – Tap A Bay Yankee) – In this race merely to complete the field, with no realistic expectation of a strong finish.
