Defendant advised to use lessons from restorative justice sessions to avoid trouble
Kingston, Jamaica— Senior Parish Judge Paula Blake-Powell on Tuesday implored a young woman to use lessons learnt during restorative justice sessions to avoid problems in the future.
The defendant had been charged with the unlawful wounding of a 15-year-old girl during a dispute on April 21, 2024, and the case was referred to restorative justice in a previous court proceeding.
Following successful sessions, the complainant and her mother returned to the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday, when they indicated that they would like the matter to be finished. This was accepted by Judge Blake-Powell who warned the defendant to avoid such incidents in the future.
“In the future, use the skills that you received in counselling so that this does not happen again,” Blake-Powell told the defendant.
The case was discharged.
