Counselling required for trainer Wayne Binns before licence renewal
Submission – Racehorse trainer: Suspension of trainers’ licence
On Thursday July 18, 2024, the Commission heard a submission from Patrick Smellie and Dale Murphy, who represented racehorse trainer Wayne Binns, in his submission to the Commission concerning the renewal of his trainers’ licence.
This was about the suspension of his trainers’ licence following an alleged incident at Caymanas Park involving himself and Tyrese Heslop, racehorse exercise rider.
After carefully reviewing submissions made by Smellie and Murphy, and the Jamaica Racing Commission’s director of racing, the Commission recommended that Wayne Binns be referred for a period of counselling. Upon completion of the same, he will then be considered for the renewal of his trainers’ licence for the 2025 calendar year.
