Tefflon gives his take on No Games
Trinidadian recording artiste Tefflon’s latest release No Games was inspired by the 2008 hit of the same name by Jamaican artiste Serani.
Produced by TobagoMolly and Yolo, it was officially be released on July 19.
An accompanying music video, which was shot in Trinidad and Tobago, was also released on the same day.
“I was really inspired by the beat [of Serani’s song], so we reached out to his team for clearance to do this project. I was thinking of summer vibes, that old-school dancehall love vibe, outside in the yard with your friends having fun, just that overall feeling,” the artiste told the Jamaica Observer.
Tefflon added that he hopes to establish a name for himself in the industry with his music.
“Since this is my first release in a while I honestly just want to consistently release music for my fans. I haven’t given them anything in a while, so I’m expecting them to show their full support,” the artiste said.
No Games became a huge success for Serani. It topped charts regionally and rose to #53 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart dated January 3, 2009. In 2022 it was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry after it exceeded sales for more than 600,000 units. To date, it is Serani’s signature crossover hit.
Meanwhile, Tefflon has been a professional artiste for the last four years. One of his most popular releases is
Fall In Love. Other singles include
Hurricane, Keep It Real, Buss Like Bamboo, and
Don’t Judge.
“My goal for this year as an artiste is to make music and broaden my reach so that I can expand my fan base,” Tefflon added.
His version of No Games will be part of his upcoming EP Sorry For The Wait. The project will be released next month.
